ConnectOn’s Three Engines: Redefining the High-Performing MSP

At the Ceeview User Conference, ConnectOn outlined a modern blueprint for MSP success — one built on business differentiation, operational intelligence, and continuous innovation. Powered by HiveView and the Ceeview platform, their approach moves beyond tool-centric delivery toward unified data, executive visibility, and measurable business outcomes. Here’s how ConnectOn is redefining what it means to be a high-performing MSP.

ConnectOn’s Three Engines: Redefining the High-Performing MSP - Powered by Ceeview
ConnectOn’s high-performance MSP model is built on three strategic engines: Business Differentiation, Operational Intelligence, and New Product Creation.

Most MSPs run the same tools — and tell the same story.

At the Ceeview User Confernce, ConnectOn took the stage to explain why that model is no longer enough — and how they are building a new path forward with HiveView, powered by Ceeview.

The presentation featured ConnectOn CEO Unnar Thor Gardarsson, Data Analyst Robert Albarran, and client voice Kevin Finken, IT Director at Streck. Together, they outlined a strategic framework they call the Three Engines of a High-Performing MSP Model — a blueprint designed to move managed services from device-centric operations to business-aligned outcomes.

As Unnar shared during the session, enterprise clients increasingly expect visibility and value — even when MSPs cannot deploy their own tools inside customer environments. Ceeview’s flexibility made it possible for ConnectOn to pull data from virtually anywhere while still delivering meaningful insight.

From MSP Heritage to Business Alignment

ConnectOn’s story spans more than four decades of MSP innovation — including roots connected to the creation of the ConnectWise business operating system. Today, the company operates globally with 24×7 U.S.-based services across business continuity, security, compliance, and managed IT.

But the real evolution is philosophical.

Rather than competing on infrastructure metrics — users, devices, or tickets — ConnectOn is intentionally shifting conversations toward business processes, executive visibility, and measurable outcomes.

“When you’re talking to larger enterprise clients, you don’t get to deploy your own tools. You need a platform that can pull data from anything and still deliver the same level of visibility and value.”

Unnar Thor Gardarsson, CEO, ConnectOn

HiveView became the platform enabling that shift.

Engine 1 - Business Differentiation

The first engine focuses on elevating MSP value beyond traditional monitoring.

Instead of starting with infrastructure, ConnectOn flips the pyramid — prioritizing business services, user experience, and strategic alignment. This approach enables outcome-driven conversations with executive stakeholders rather than purely technical discussions.

The result? Rapid investigation, elimination of unnecessary spend, and a clear demonstration of business-level value

Kevin Finken Streck

“IT problems are business problems. This model gives us visibility we can take straight to senior leadership—and act on.”

Kevin Finken, IT Director, Streck · Client of ConnectOn

For IT leaders increasingly measured by business contribution, that shift matters.

Engine 2 - Operational Intelligence

Every MSP relies on a broad stack of tools — patching, security, identity, backups, compliance — yet their data often lives in silos.

ConnectOn’s strategy is not to replace those tools, but to unify them.

Using Ceeview DataSources, the team aggregates telemetry from 12+ platforms into a governed business data lake, enabling cross-tool insight across patching, risk, identity, and services.

Robert Albarran described the goal succinctly during the session:

Siloed data answers technical questions. Unified data answers business questions.”

Robert Albarran, Data Analyst, ConnectOn

By normalizing data into a Snowflake-style model and publishing curated datasets into Ceeview, ConnectOn transforms fragmented telemetry into decision-ready intelligence.

The outcome is operational efficiency — but also something more strategic: faster answers to business questions and greater confidence in executive reporting.

Engine 3 - New Product Creation

Unified data doesn’t just improve operations — it creates opportunity.

With HiveView as the foundation, ConnectOn is productizing new services including:

  • Risk and compliance offerings
  • Evidence-driven insurance reporting
  • Cyber resilience packages
  • Industry-specific service bundles

This represents a fundamental shift from reactive IT support toward proactive business performance management.

As Unnar summarized:

“HiveView has given ConnectOn something we’ve never had before: a unified data platform across every tool and client — and a foundation for differentiated services and new revenue models.”
